MI:3 Digital movie
Went to watch MI:3 at Cathay The Plaza last night 9.30pm. It was my first time to this brand new cinema (picturehouse), after it had been opened for almost a month. There was no shops inside the plaza, afew still under renovations. Being in this cinema brought me alot of memories. Memories of watching the Army Daze in the old Cathay cinema. It was a full house that day. Memories also flashed back with regards to drinking Orange Julius in the shop below the old Cathay cinema. When we were guided to the Grand Theatre, i was impressed by the classic theatre settings and the helpful urshers (those who guided you using a small torchlight, who are hardly found these days).But it was a total disaster when the movie started. The show intended for the 9.30pm slot, did not start until 15minutes later. The "simply-cannot-make-it very chiak lat" sound system deafened our ears, and we were not given a satisfying THX surround sound. Many audiences stepped up and left the theatre few minutes after the movie started rolling. Guess, after many rounds of complains by the audiences, the cinema in-charged then decided to stop the movie and lighted up the whole theartre. And we were told by the urshers that the sound systems had some problems and were required to stop the movie. We were given choices either to continue watching at the 12.45am slot, or refund and go home. We decided to choose the latter. The stupid queues at the b0x office were very long, and we had to wait for our turn.
What a fateful night. I've not been watching a single movie for almost 2 years in my life, and yet i am given such a "treat". Really disappointed, not because i didn't get to watch MI:3 (i finds it not very nice), but rather the fact that Cathay The new Plaza didn't continue to live up its good old reputation.
